| The Community Development Department was created in 2008 and provides coordination of the area's development resources and efforts. Those efforts are aimed at the following community development goals: recruitment of new business and industry, retention and expansion of existing business industry, housing and jobs. The Community Development Coordinator works closely with several local development organizations including the Economic Development Authority, Montevideo Industrial Development Corporation, Montevideo Community Development Corporation and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
